Islamabad (Commerce Desk): On the second day of talks between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund, discussions will focus on various economic issues, including ease of doing business, tax reforms and investment.
According to sources, the IMF delegation will meet representatives of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce, where issues related to the business environment, electricity prices and transmission are likely to be discussed.
The talks will also cover tax reforms and facilities being provided to taxpayers, while the IMF mission will also participate in technical-level discussions.
Sources said that the technical-level talks will review key economic matters, including the current account deficit, the policy rate and the exchange rate. The IMF delegation will also be briefed on foreign direct investment in Pakistan.
During the talks, the IMF delegation will also be informed about the successful issuance of the Eurobond and funds received from external sources. Discussions are also expected on the effective use of monetary policy to control inflation.
