TEHRAN (Monitoring Desk): Iranian parliamentarian Ebrahim Rezaei, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, has criticized the new defense agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye.
According to media reports, Ebrahim Rezaei said the defense agreement with Pakistan and Türkiye could not provide Saudi Arabia with the security guarantees Riyadh expects.
In a statement posted on social media, the Iranian lawmaker said Saudi Arabia should understand that the agreement with Pakistan and Türkiye would not provide it with complete protection. According to him, Riyadh had relied on the United States for decades in the past, but that dependence also failed to guarantee complete security.
Ebrahim Rezaei urged the Saudi leadership to review its policies and reduce its reliance on other countries for security.
It may be recalled that defense cooperation between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye comes at a time when the security situation in the Middle East remains highly tense. Under the agreement, aggression against any one of the three countries will be considered an attack against all three.
