Peshawar (Pakistan News): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a relief package of Rs126 million to provide financial assistance to minority families affected by terrorism.
The decision was taken during a review committee meeting chaired by Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Sahibzada Muhammad Adnan Qadri, in which a total of 173 applications were reviewed.
Financial assistance was approved for 167 deserving individuals and families during the meeting. According to officials, injured persons, widows, orphaned children, unmarried daughters, and disabled individuals were declared eligible for assistance.
All applications were approved after complete verification at the district and departmental levels, while each case was reverified to ensure transparency and merit.
The meeting decided that any woman included in two different aid categories would receive financial assistance under only one category. Seven cases of permanent disability were also reviewed, out of which six cases were approved subject to completion of required documents.
The committee also approved Rs4 million in assistance for the family affected by the Gurdwara Singh Sabha attack in Mardan, while it was decided to provide financial support to the legal heirs of Shaheed Jagan Nath and his wife.
The district verification committee was also directed to complete its report within one week.
Addressing the meeting, Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Sahibzada Muhammad Adnan Qadri said that helping people affected by terrorism is a state, national, and humanitarian responsibility. He said that the government will continue efforts for the protection, religious freedom, and welfare of minority communities and is committed to providing assistance to all deserving affected families according to the law.
