Mohammad Nawaz Receives Three-Month Ban for Anti-Doping Violation

Dubai (Sports Desk): Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has been handed a period of ineligibility for violating the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Doping Code.

According to the ICC, the doping test of 32-year-old Mohammad Nawaz was conducted on February 7, 2026, after the T20 World Cup match against the Netherlands in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The sample was found to contain the prohibited substance carboxy-THC.

The statement said that Mohammad Nawaz accepted the violation and maintained that the substance was not used for the purpose of enhancing performance during the game, but that there was another reason behind its use.

The ICC, after considering his explanation and the circumstances, imposed a three-month period of ineligibility on Mohammad Nawaz, effective from May 1, 2026, when he voluntarily accepted a provisional suspension.

According to the global cricket body, if Mohammad Nawaz successfully completes the required drug-related treatment program, his ban will be reduced to one month.

The ICC further stated that Mohammad Nawaz has already completed two and a half months of his suspension, and if he successfully completes the program, he will not face any further period of suspension.
