London (Monitoring Desk): King Charles III of Britain welcomed Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman on an official state visit. This is the first official state visit to Britain by an Omani sultan in 44 years and is being considered significant in view of the historic ties between the two countries.
During the visit, King Charles recited a Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in Arabic from Sahih Muslim in his speech and praised the good manners and gentle nature of the Omani people.
The meaning of the Hadith quoted by King Charles is that if you went to the people of Oman, they would neither insult you nor strike you. The British monarch’s recitation of the Arabic text of the Hadith is being regarded as one of the prominent moments of the visit.
On the occasion, King Charles also praised Oman’s diplomatic efforts, particularly its role in reopening the Strait of Hormuz and establishing peace in the Middle East.
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s visit highlights the importance of the longstanding relations between Britain and Oman. In addition to diplomatic ties, trade, regional security, and the promotion of peace in the Middle East are also matters of particular importance to both countries.
