Lahore (Sports Desk) The Pakistan women’s cricket team, led by captain Fatima Sana, departed for Ireland on Monday morning to finalize preparations ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The team will participate in a tri-nation T20 series featuring Ireland, Pakistan, and West Indies, scheduled from May 28 to June 4 in Dublin. The purpose of the series is to provide players with strong preparation before the upcoming World Cup.
Pakistan Women will play two matches against each team. Their first match will be against West Indies on May 29, while the remaining fixtures will be played on May 31, June 3, and June 4.
The squad includes players such as Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Diana Baig, Muneeba Ali, Nashra Sandhu, and Sadia Iqbal, while reserve players include Sidra Amin and Umme Hani.
Pakistan will play its first major World Cup match against arch-rivals India on June 14 in Birmingham, followed by group-stage matches against South Africa, Bangladesh, Australia, and the Netherlands.
Prior to departure, the team completed a four-day training camp in Lahore under the mentorship of Wahab Riaz, focusing on fitness and skills development, where senior players also met and encouraged the squad.
