Islamabad (Sports Desk): The Pakistan Hockey Federation and Tech Valley Pakistan, Google’s local partner in Pakistan, have signed a memorandum of understanding to modernize the administrative and training systems of hockey.
At the ceremony, PHF President Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani and Tech Valley Pakistan Founder and Chief Executive Officer Umar Farooq signed the agreement, while Google’s global representatives were also present.
Under the agreement, Tech Valley has been appointed as the PHF’s official digital transformation partner for three years. Through this cooperation, digital communication and record-keeping systems between the PHF, regional hockey associations, and selection committees will be improved.
Under the project, records of past matches, player records, and administrative documents will be transferred to a centralized digital system. A digital player performance and capabilities information system will also be established to maintain records of players’ performance, medical history, and fitness.
The agreement also includes plans to use artificial intelligence and advanced analytical tools for coaching staff to analyze match videos, assess players’ abilities, and develop strategies against opposing teams.
Training and certification programmes will be provided for PHF administrators, coaches, and sports officials, while regional hockey academies will also be trained in using digital tools for player registration and match reports.
Tech Valley will provide project personnel for technical consultation, data migration, and project monitoring. The project also includes facilities for real-time results, secure archives of past matches, and live broadcasting through digital platforms.
It is worth noting that the memorandum of understanding does not impose any direct financial obligation, while separate agreements will subsequently be signed regarding expenses, permissions, and software procurement.
