When Yazidism had already occupied the seats of power, when monarchy had seized the pure concept of the Caliphate, when the voice of truth was being suppressed and attempts to distort the spirit of the Muhammadan faith were at their peak, history needed a man of truth who would stand firmly against falsehood. A character who would tell the world that the glitter of power is not the standard of truth and righteousness, but truth is that which does not bow before oppression.
This great responsibility was fulfilled by the grandson of the Prophet, Imam Hussain. He offered such a sacrifice for the survival of the religion of his grandfather, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and for preserving its true spirit that has no parallel in human history. In the scorching desert of Karbala, he not only sacrificed his own life but also offered the sacrifices of his family, companions, and beloved children in the path of truth. Yet he never bowed before falsehood.
The martyrs of Karbala, with their blood, inscribed on the pages of history the eternal message that no matter how powerful oppression may become, those who uphold the banner of truth are never defeated. The essence of Hussainism is to stand firm against every tyrant, oppressive, and exploitative force, to remain ready to give every sacrifice for truth, and never to compromise on principles. In contrast, Yazidism has always appeared in every era as a symbol of oppression, tyranny, dictatorship, and injustice.
Karbala teaches us that one’s head may be sacrificed, but it must never bow before falsehood. The philosophy of Karbala is to stand firm against every oppressor. That is why Imam Hussain and his devoted companions have become, for all times to come, shining symbols of freedom, steadfastness, patience, and truthfulness. Their message continues to call out to humanity that silence in the face of oppression is not acceptable; rather, standing firmly for truth is the true essence of Hussainism.
