Lahore (Pakistan News): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said she will resign if even a single rupee of corruption is proven against her, adding that eliminating corruption is the government's top priority.
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said a vigorous campaign against corruption was underway in Punjab, and government employees found taking bribes were being dismissed from their jobs.
She said, “How can workers do their jobs in a place where protests and vandalism take place every day?” She added that providing a secure environment was essential before investment could be attracted.
The chief minister said Punjab had a significant share in the national GDP. She added that illegal occupations dating back 25 years had been ended in the province, while encroachments had been removed to widen markets.
She said every sector, including industry, was undergoing a process of transformation, adding that Pakistan's young population could become the country's greatest asset.
