Tel Aviv (Monitoring Desk): Israeli authorities have indicted a soldier on charges of spying for Iran. The soldier is accused of maintaining contact with Iranian intelligence agents, acting on their instructions and providing sensitive military information.

According to Israeli media, the soldier was arrested in September following a joint investigation by the Shin Bet, police and military police. Authorities said the investigation revealed that he had been in contact with Iranian agents for approximately one year, during which he provided sensitive information about his unit's activities, military preparations and personnel call-ups.

According to the indictment, the soldier also sent his Iranian contact photographs of military bases and their locations, an air defence system installed at an airport, military vehicles and US refuelling aircraft.

Prosecutors said the soldier had also been offered $200,000 to travel to Iran. He faces serious security charges, including acting with the intention of harming state security, providing information to an enemy and maintaining contact with a foreign agent.
