California (Web Desk): YouTube has begun testing a reduction in its minimum payout threshold from $100 to $20 for a limited number of users, allowing creators with lower earnings to withdraw their money sooner.
According to a report by Express, under the YouTube Partner Program, users are generally paid once their account balance reaches at least $100.
The new feature is being tested among a limited number of users in the United States, India and Indonesia. In a statement, YouTube said it was temporarily testing a lower minimum payout threshold of $20 to provide greater convenience to users. However, other payment requirements will remain unchanged.
According to the report, YouTube has formally notified users selected for the trial. However, it remains unclear how long the test will continue or when the new threshold might be introduced for all users.
If the feature is made permanent, creators in Pakistan and other countries may also benefit from it in the future. However, its launch in Pakistan has not yet been confirmed.
