Karachi (Showbiz Desk): Renowned Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh has revealed that he had expressed his willingness to work in the popular 2007 Bollywood film "Om Shanti Om" alongside Shah Rukh Khan for a symbolic fee of just one rupee.
Speaking in a private television program, Javed Sheikh described his experience of working with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as memorable and said that India's hospitality, sincerity, and generosity were difficult to express in words.
He said Shah Rukh Khan's humility and friendly attitude deeply impressed him. During the shooting of the film, Shah Rukh Khan's behavior and his treatment of fellow artists became an unforgettable experience for him.
According to Javed Sheikh, the film's director Farah Khan personally selected him for the role of Shah Rukh Khan's father. When the production team contacted him for the contract, he refused to accept any payment.
The actor said that for him, playing an important role in such a major film and representing Pakistan was far more valuable than financial compensation. However, the production team insisted that a professional artist does not work without receiving payment.
He said that he then offered to accept only one rupee as his fee. According to Javed Sheikh, Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were both surprised by his response.
He further added that the filmmakers appreciated his passion and sincerity, but he was not allowed to work for only a symbolic one-rupee payment. Instead, he was later given compensation that exceeded his expectations.
