Mumbai (Showbiz Desk): Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has spoken about the influence of the underworld on the Indian film industry in the 1990s and made an important revelation regarding superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
In a recent interview, Sanjay Gupta recalled the past and said that he was a direct witness to the era when fear of the underworld was at its peak in Mumbai, and no one associated with showbiz, including film actors and directors, was safe from its influence.
According to the filmmaker, during that period, pressure was exerted on leading actors and actresses to force them to work in specific films, while people associated with the underworld would visit film sets and watch the shooting. Under these circumstances, Shah Rukh Khan was among those who refused to accept the pressure.
According to Sanjay Gupta, when Shah Rukh Khan was threatened and pressured to work in films or shows, the actor clearly refused and said that he would neither make a film for them nor work in any show.
The filmmaker, describing Shah Rukh Khan’s alleged response, said that the actor reportedly replied, “I am a Pathan. If you want to shoot me, then shoot me. I am not afraid of you.”
