London (Web Desk): The British Prime Minister has announced a ban on social media use for children under the age of 16.
Keir Starmer stated that keeping children away from social media is the right decision, and the government is fully prepared to ensure its effective implementation. According to him, regulatory bodies are already in place to take action against major technology companies.
Under the government plan, laws related to gaming services and live-streaming platforms are also being further tightened to limit children’s online activities.
Officials said the aim of this move is to shift children’s attention away from mobile phones and digital screens toward education and health.
According to the report, concerns are growing worldwide over excessive social media use among minors due to its educational, mental, and social impacts, prompting several countries to consider stricter regulations in this regard.
