Education Restrictions in Afghanistan Create Challenges for Students

Kabul (Monitoring Desk): Following restrictions on Afghan women, the Taliban government’s strict measures regarding the education of young people have also drawn international concern.

According to a report by an international magazine, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has highlighted a significant decline in the number of students pursuing higher education during the Taliban era.

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said that the Taliban’s policies have deprived millions of Afghan citizens of their basic rights, which amounts to serious human rights violations.

According to the report, Afghan students are facing various restrictions and strict regulations. An Afghan student claimed that students face severe punishments for violating Taliban rules related to beards and clothing.

The international magazine reported that the departure of experienced teachers and professors from Afghanistan has also affected the quality of higher education institutions, creating difficulties for the country’s education system.

Indian journalist Dharam Jot said that restrictions imposed on employment and education sectors are affecting the basic rights of Afghan people. He added that the human rights situation in Afghanistan has become a major concern for the international community.
