New York (Web Desk): Google Maps, widely used across the world for navigation and finding directions, is expected to soon introduce a new feature that could allow users to order food directly through the app.
According to reports, traces found in the latest Android version’s code suggest that Google is working on a system that will enable users to order food through a chat-based interface.
The new feature is expected to be linked with Google’s AI-powered tool “Ask Maps,” which allows users to explore locations, restaurants, and services, and may also enable food ordering directly within the platform.
Initial information suggests that the feature could be particularly useful for travelers, allowing them to place food orders easily without needing any additional apps.
The app’s code also indicates the presence of new digital buttons and functions, suggesting that Google is actively developing the system. A feature called “Drive Up” has also been mentioned, which may allow users to pick up their orders from restaurants without leaving their vehicles.
Google had previously hinted in a blog post that food ordering functionality could eventually be integrated into Google Maps.
However, the company has not yet announced an official launch date or regional availability. Tech experts suggest that the feature may initially be tested in selected regions before a wider rollout.
