Brussels (Web Desk): The European Union has sought clarification from Meta regarding certain features on Facebook and Instagram that are suspected of keeping users, particularly children and teenagers, engaged on their screens for extended periods.
According to foreign media, the European Commission has asked Meta to modify features such as infinite scrolling, autoplay videos, and highly personalized content recommendations, as the European Union believes these elements may have negative effects on the mental health of children.
According to reports, if Meta is found to have violated European regulations, the company could face a fine of up to 6 percent of its global annual revenue.
Meanwhile, Meta has rejected the allegations, maintaining that it has implemented several measures to protect young users. However, the company argues that the European Union's report has not given adequate recognition to those efforts.
