Google Maps Colors Reveal Easy Way to Check Traffic Conditions

California (Web Desk): Google Maps is among the world’s most popular navigation applications. Although it may sometimes have the possibility of errors, in most cases it provides accurate guidance about routes.

Over the past few years, several changes have been made to Google Maps to make its use easier and more efficient for users. One of the app’s important features is the use of different colors to indicate road conditions and traffic situations.

Google Maps provides information about roads, highways, underground routes, and railway tracks through various visual indicators, while specific colors are used to show traffic flow.

Meaning of Colors in Google Maps:

Roads and highways are generally shown in gray. Light gray is used for small streets and routes, while dark gray represents major roads. Railway tracks are also displayed in light gray but are highlighted with thin lines.

To check traffic conditions, users can use the Layers option in Google Maps.

The green color indicates that traffic is moving normally and there is no major obstruction expected during travel.

Yellow and orange colors show that vehicles are moving on the road but at reduced speeds. Yellow represents slight slowdowns, while orange indicates relatively heavier traffic.

Red color indicates severe traffic conditions, meaning there is heavy congestion at a location and travel time may increase. Light red represents heavy traffic, while dark red indicates severe traffic jams.

The blue color is not used for traffic conditions but for route guidance. Dark blue shows the selected or preferred route, while light blue indicates alternative routes.
