BEIJING (Web Desk): China has stressed that human beings should not become subservient to technology and that modern technology must not be allowed to widen disparities in human development.
According to international media, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning made these remarks during a daily press briefing while commenting on the opening of the World Internet Conference 2026.
She said internet technology should help enhance human capabilities, expand opportunities for choice, promote values and improve the quality of life.
She emphasised that technology should serve humanity rather than dominate people or increase inequalities in social development.
The spokesperson said China would maintain its policy of openness in innovation and technology while cooperating with other countries to promote technology transfer and knowledge exchange. Beijing aims to develop a digital system that is open, inclusive and driven by innovation.
