CALIFORNIA (Web Desk): Popular messaging app WhatsApp has introduced a new feature to help protect users from cyber fraud by providing additional information about calls received from unknown numbers.
According to a report, when a user receives a WhatsApp call from a number not saved in their contact list, the screen will display the caller’s country name along with the phone number.
Users will also be able to find out whether the caller is a member of any WhatsApp group that they themselves belong to.
With this information, users can decide whether to answer the call, block the number or report it to the relevant authorities. The feature could help protect users against potential fraud carried out through calls from unknown numbers.
