Islamabad (Web Desk) The government has decided to further tighten laws related to the use of social media. In this regard, the Ministry of Interior has decided to consult all relevant institutions and stakeholders.
According to sources, in view of the increasing incidents of child exploitation and obscenity on social media, a proposal to set an age limit for users is under consideration.
Sources say that various proposals will also be discussed to prevent obscenity in the name of family vlogging, while a proposal to ban certain social media platforms, following the example of some countries, will also be reviewed.
Decisions on the proposals will be taken after consultations in a meeting to be held at the Ministry of Interior. Officials from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, and federal and provincial police will participate in the meeting.
According to sources, the meeting will review the situation regarding cases related to child exploitation and obscenity, while social media policies of various countries, including Australia, will also be studied.
