ISLAMABAD (Pakistan News) – Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said that India is attempting to use water as a weapon, which could lead to serious consequences.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said that the Indus Waters Treaty has been unilaterally suspended, while under international law its implementation remains India’s responsibility.
He stated that the treaty framework contains a clear mechanism for peaceful resolution of disputes, but India has taken an illegal step in this regard.
According to Ishaq Dar, Pakistan remains committed to the United Nations Charter and seeks peace and stability in the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that any attempt to use water as a weapon will have serious and negative consequences, and Pakistan will continue to raise its voice for the protection of its people’s rights on every forum.
