iOS 27 Adds Option to Hide Location from Specific Contacts

California (Web Desk): Apple has introduced a new location-sharing feature in its new mobile operating system, iOS 27, allowing users to hide their location from a specific contact without the other person receiving the usual notification.

According to reports, previously, when location sharing with someone was stopped, a gray notification appeared in iMessage, informing the other person that location sharing had been discontinued.

Under the new system, using the “Hide My Location” option will make the user’s location disappear from the selected contact’s screen, while no gray notification will appear in the iMessage conversation indicating that location sharing has been stopped.

If the other person tries to find the location through “Find My” or Maps, they may see a status such as “Location Not Available” or “Disconnected from Network.” This will make it difficult for them to determine whether the location was intentionally hidden or whether the phone is switched off, outside network coverage or inaccessible for another reason.

According to Apple, the feature is particularly designed for situations where users do not want to reveal their location while attending a surprise party, purchasing a gift or engaging in an activity they intend to keep secret.
