Occupied Jerusalem (Monitoring Desk): Israeli Army Chief Eyal Zamir has announced that military operations in Gaza will continue, saying that the army will maintain its advance.
The Israeli army chief said that Hamas has been significantly weakened and that changes have been brought to the security situation. He said that operations in Gaza will continue to eliminate threats and defend Israeli citizens.
Eyal Zamir stated that the pursuit of members of Hamas’ elite Nukhba force and those involved in the October 7 attack will continue.
The Israeli army chief’s statement came at a time when, a few days earlier, Board of Peace representative Nikolay Mladenov met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for discussions regarding a Gaza peace plan.
According to reports, the meeting included discussions on a plan to disarm Hamas and hand over Gaza’s administration to a civilian government. During the negotiation process, efforts were also made to urge Israel to halt attacks.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Iran will continue supporting Hamas in Gaza-related negotiations.
During a phone conversation with Hamas Political Bureau chief Khalil al-Hayya, the Iranian president said that Iran would support the steps and decisions taken by the Palestinian leadership during the negotiations.
