Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Pakistan has received a global honor at the 2026 Asia-Pacific Climate Bonds Awards for issuing a sustainable sovereign Panda Bond.
Finance Minister’s Adviser Khurram Shehzad said Pakistan issued its first sustainable Panda Bond in May 2026, worth 1.75 billion Chinese yuan. The bond received more than five times the demand compared with the amount issued.
According to Khurram Shehzad, the issuance of the Panda Bond is an important development in creating new opportunities for financial cooperation between Pakistan and China, global investment and sustainable development.
He said the record demand for the bond reflects Pakistan’s economic recovery and stability, while its international recognition is further expanding financial ties between the two countries.
The Finance Minister’s Adviser said that following CPEC, the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China is also becoming stronger in the private sector and capital markets.
