London (Sports Desk) The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has expressed disappointment over the performance of the pitch at Lord’s Cricket Ground, saying it did not meet expected standards.
According to MCC Chief Executive Rob Lawson, the club has acknowledged that the pitch used in the recent Test match produced inconsistent and uneven bounce, which is not in line with the standards associated with such a prestigious venue.
He said the club always strives to maintain the highest quality, and it is natural to be disappointed when the wicket does not meet those expectations.
It is worth noting that in the first Test between England and New Zealand at Lord’s, 40 wickets fell in just 166 overs, with England winning by 115 runs. Rain also reduced the match to four days.
During the match, the pitch showed unpredictable bounce, making batting difficult. Out of the total dismissals, 24 wickets fell either bowled or lbw.
Earlier, England captain Ben Stokes also raised concerns over the unusual conditions, saying such pitches are not suitable for the standard and future of Test cricket.
