Bumrah Ruled Out Due to Injury, Young Aqib Nabi Earns First India Test Call-Up

New Delhi (Sports Desk) — India’s leading fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the Test series against Sri Lanka due to injury, after which young fast bowler Aqib Nabi from Jammu and Kashmir has been included in the Indian senior team for the first time.

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jasprit Bumrah will miss the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to a left knee injury, and Aqib Nabi has been added to the national squad as his replacement.

Aqib Nabi has delivered outstanding performances in domestic cricket. He has taken a total of 104 wickets in the last two Ranji Trophy seasons, including 60 wickets in the 2025-26 season. He played a key role in helping Jammu and Kashmir win their first-ever Ranji Trophy title.

The young fast bowler was also recently part of the India A squad on the tour of Sri Lanka, where he took six wickets in two first-class matches.

The first Test of the two-match World Test Championship series between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Galle from August 15, while the second match will begin in Colombo on August 23.
