ISLAMABAD (Sports Desk): The three-day practice match between the PCB Patrons XI and Sri Lanka begins today at the Islamabad Club Ground. Saad Baig will lead the Pakistan side.
The match is the only practice fixture for the visiting Sri Lankan team ahead of the first Test. The Patrons XI squad also includes seven players from Pakistan’s Test team.
In a video released by the PCB, captain Saad Baig said players need to adopt a different mindset when transitioning from white-ball to red-ball cricket. He said they try to maintain their natural style of play, but red-ball cricket gives players more time and involves different match conditions.
Saad Baig said the team was well prepared and that he was proud to lead the side as captain.
Patrons XI head coach Ijaz Ahmed Jr. said all the players in the squad had recently featured in domestic cricket, making the match an excellent opportunity for them to test their abilities and prepare for the future. He added that the contest would also help the players progress in their careers.
