Mumbai (Showbiz Desk) Actress Rashmika Mandanna’s film career has expanded across Telugu and Hindi, as well as Kannada and Tamil cinema. However, she says working in different languages was never part of a planned strategy; circumstances kept taking her from films in one language to another.
According to the 30-year-old actress from Karnataka’s Kodagu district, language has never created a professional barrier for her. She says one reason is that her mother tongue, Kodava Takk, does not have its own established film industry.
Rashmika said she considers herself Kodava and speaks Kodava Takk. Because of this background, different languages do not feel unfamiliar to her; instead, she embraces each language with a sense of belonging.
Speaking about her career, the actress said that in the beginning, her fans, whom she considers her family, advised her to work in Telugu films. Later, she heard similar suggestions regarding Hindi films. In this way, opportunities to work in one language after another continued to come, and her film career kept expanding.
Regarding reactions to her accent, Rashmika said what matters to her is that if she is asked a question in a particular language, she should be able to respond in the same language. According to her, this is one way of showing respect to viewers from different parts of the world.
The actress said she does not give importance to unnecessary discussions about her accent in films. Her focus remains on doing justice to the character and her acting. According to her, an actress’s responsibility is to present a good story on set, after which she returns home.
Rashmika said that at the beginning of every film, she believes the entire team is there to use its abilities to create something special. She keeps her focus on her work and tries to give her best performance in every role.
She said the success or final outcome of a film is not the result of one individual’s efforts, but of the collective effort and energy of everyone involved in the project. Therefore, instead of interfering in other people’s work, she focuses on her own responsibility and tries to deliver her best performance.
